Across North America, housing systems face a crisis of affordability, accessibility, and choice. The dominance of single-family zoning projects have left a void in the middle, precisely where young families, essential workers, downsizers, and first-time buyers might otherwise find a home.
The Good Neighbor imagines what ‘good’ medium density housing would be like. Beyond visual eye candy, good architecture should impact beyond the envelope of the building itself and enable neighboring communities to thrive. In this case the larger urban move was to allow the lot behind this project access to sunlight throughout the year.
